funny how this song fits right into the theme

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time

So here's to the golden moon
And here's to the silver sea
And mostly here's a toast
To you and me

So here's to the ginger lei
I give to you today
And here's a kiss
That will not fade away

Daptone Records Luv

Mr. Lee Fields - Live!

The Sugarman Three

and my new obsession...Budos Band

from www.daptonerecords.com

ABOUT DAPTONE

DAPTONE RECORDS--that little indie label that could, would and certainly should--continues to bring you the tastiest, most delectable nuggets of Soul, Funk, Gospel and Afrobeat to be found on a vinyl platter. Armed with recipes culled from a former life as Desco Records, we at Daptone earnestly strive to serve only the finest music analog tape can offer.

Musician-owned and run, our Brooklyn-based family of soul-drenched talent channels the spirits of bygone powerhouses like Stax and Motown into gilded moments of movement and joy, be they delivered by the likes of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Lee Fields, Charles Bradley, Binky Griptite, the Budos Band, Naomi Davis or the Sugarman 3. Whether your preference is for discs 7-inches or 12, LPs or CDs, this is music to be savored and felt, again and again.

Hand-made and heart-stirred, our records are manufactured from the highest quality vinyl available. Our limited pressings can be purchased directly from us or from your local distributor at reasonable prices. Each record is carefully recorded and mixed by the illustrious Bosco Mann to ensure only the hardest, truest sound found this side of the Atlantic. Daptone Records continues to take pride in what we do, and we thank you for your support.

Angry Swarm

The Locust, were victims of a massive robbery this weekend. They had played a show in St. Louis recently when their van was broken into and their personal belongings were stolen. Computers, iPods, clothes, cash, keys, passports, medications, toiletries, everything and anything was taken in the middle of the night.

This is a devastating blow to the band because they are mid-tour and it is very difficult for them to recover, particularly Justin Pearson (vocalist/bassist) who lost his laptop that was holding a great deal of financial data regarding his record label, Three One G.

Those with Paypal accounts are encouraged to donate via Three One G’s paypal account, which is heylisten@threeoneg.com, or you can make a check or money order out to three one G records, or Justin Pearson, or even well concealed cash to:

golden sandalwood

on a whim, my friend anna and i visited a psychic today. first time for everything. i'm full of skepticism and went in playing the part of stone cold steve austin. no emotion, no response to her words. i wanted her to tell me about my 3 kids i sent away to live with their respective fathers. i wanted her to tell me i was the best dj on Argonne. i wanted her to help me predict what netflix would be sending me next. what she told me sent a bad whiskey chill up my spine. the words she uttered in that dark room behind the seedy crystal shop shall not pass the red velvet curtains that protected "us" from "them". as i glanced over at my partner, not life partner, but partner enough anna, we slowly shook our heads in disbelief. this broad had the nerve to tell me that

well enough about her reading. bottom line is, i'm opening my main vein up to the idea that what i want and what i'll get will be the same as long as i focus on the door prize. do you get me here? i didn't think so. i paid $10 for 15 minutes of job, love and mystery male figure in my life premonitions. it was fun. i'd do it again. thanks for the idea sweedish eagle.

love,

TGIT

IRS bullshavic is squared away. No more garnishing. Morrissey was.....Morrissey. Glad I saw him, would I go again?? Naw dawg. Crowd watching was fun. In the meantime, I broke my ringfinger toe while doing yardwork yesterday. I stupidly tried moving a table holding about 10 potted plants. It collapsed on me and crashed on my foot. I'm lucky and surprised that only one toe broke. I'm on the hunt for crutches. Lil' piggy HURTS to walk on. Mellow weekend ahead.

SUNDAY: Baby Gangsta will be making her first racing appearance in Huntington Beach @ Oktoberfest. Gonna b a good one!!
p.s. she's in the background of this pic resting for the big day. we had a trial run in the Shores 1/2 hr. before. those lil legs sure can haul ass!!

Surfwise

Ever dreamed about just dropping out of society and living like a wild animal on the beach? Add 9 children, a 24-foot camper van and endless ocean, and you’ll get the unbelievable yet true story of the Paskowitz family in Surfwise.

Surfwise follows the odyssey of 85-year-old legendary surfer Dr. Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz, who, along with his wife Juliette, created an unprecedented way of life for them and their nine children. The joy of surfing, eating healthy, living “off the grid” and being free merely scratches the surface of a remarkably deep and compelling narrative–one that weaves vision, spirit, love, triumph and tragedy.

$20!!!!!!!-just found out. maybe i'll wait until it's out on video

me, you and elivis

apparently i talked my way into dj'ing at Cheapshots last friday night. i say apparently because i had just come off my detox and was starting to drift into a foggy haze. last i remember, i was standing outside the bar talking to the bouncer and bartender about wanting to play there. that's about where the memory cut out. my homie elvis ever so kindly reminded me last night that they were expecting me this wednesday. well ooooo k. two dj's are always better than one, so that's what you'll get tomorrow night.

the bar is cool. dark, loungy, good vibes, nice beer and wine selection (maybe liquor too...last i checked they didn't have that license yet). did i mention good tunes? COME. i promise you'll have a good time on hump day. my treat.
