day at the museum

my husband had the day off from teaching for the MLK holiday.  we've been wanting to go to the California Design, 1930-1965: "Living a Modern Way" exhibit ever since it arrived at the LACMA.  we discovered last night, every holiday, target pays for the general public to go to the museum for FREE...all day.  so cool! ta-dao, we had a sweet date planned.

my mom also knew we wanted to go to this exhibit, so for christmas, she gave us $$ for tickets and lunch/dinner.  the gift of an experience is far superior to a "thing" you soon forget about.  i highly recommend this route for anyone.

here are my highlights from our day and what i savored most, enjoy!

@weekend dreaming@

Newly produced black walnut dining table based on a Danish mid century modern coffee table by Illum Wikkelso. Hand crafted and build by a local LA furniture maker. Solid walnut top is 3/4 inch with beveled edge. Seats 6 comfortably and can accommodate

Danish mid century modern original butterscotch leather love seat, with metal legs and tufted back and seat cushions.

Set of 4 solid teak Danish mid century modern dining chairs by Niels Ole Møller for J.L Møllers Møbelfabrik, 1954. They have been fully refinished and are upholstered in a vibrant yellow leather....i'd prefer a set of eames chairs for the dinning table above so these would work for my kitchen table. a girl can dream!

if you'd like to support my dreams, you can find these items for sale @ silica three in n. hollywood.

ah furniture love

i'm so happy. i've been on the hunt for a new dresser for a long time. a couple have slipped through my fingers due to other people snatching them up before me. NOT TODAY! got this gem from a rad design school dropout in the OC. guy has a house full of amazing danish modern pieces (most are way above my price limit, but BEAUTIFUL.) after buying the dresser, he offered to deliver it for free.

once it arrived and was put in place, we (he brought a friend who's in the same business) drank some tall boys outside and reminisced on the "good ol days" at the Red Room when you could do lines on the tables and not have to wait behind a velvet rope to get in. ah what a night and what a piece of furniture! love my new friends too.
