About Mickey Champion...
Mickey Champion is from Lake Charles, Louisiana, and has been singing for over fifty years. She was discovered in Los Angeles by the great bandleader Johnny Otis, and went on to work with such performers as T-Bone Walker, Little Esther Phillips, Roy Milton, Billy Holliday, and many more. She has also influenced artists like Barbara Morisson, Linda Hopkins, as well as numerous up and coming young stars. Mickey has a voice that is a cross between a smooth shot of Hennessy's and an acetylene blowtorch. She enthralls audiences with her electric and heartfelt vocals, leaving nothing wanting when she pours out her soul each night on the stages around the country.

Free Party in the Sky!!!

The annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to be at its best this year, producing one or two meteors per minute during peak hours.

According to the best estimates, in 2007 the Earth is predicted to cut through the densest part of the Perseid stream sometime around 2 a.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 13. That corresponds to 11 p.m. PT on Aug. 12 for those of us in California.

The late-night hours Sunday, on through the first light of dawn Monday holds the greatest promise of seeing a very fine Perseid display.

The moon will be new on Sunday, meaning that there will be no interference from it at all. Ideally you want to be 40 miles away from a city center. Jump in your car tonight and drive to the coast or up to the mountains or stroll to the local beach like me. I'll be laying in the sand tonight checking out the show. Way to end a weekend!

The Animated Films Of Brent Green

When: Wednesday, August 15, 2007 At 09:00 PM

Where: Silent Movie Theatre

611 N. Fairfax Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90046

Hailing from rural Pennsylvania, self-taught animator Brent Green has emerged as a visionary artist with a distinctive style. "The New York Times" has called Green's work "some of the most original animations we have seen in years" and his work has shown at Sundance, the Getty, the Hammer Museum, Walker Arts Center and Warhol Museum. Green's hand-made animated films have been likened to everything from folk art to Tim Burton, but no comparison adequately describes Green's dark, uncanny vision.

On Wednesday, August 15th, Green will be screening all of his films with live soundtracks and narration, at the Silent Movie Theatre.

You can learn more about Brent Green, and see some of his work at http://nervousfilms.co
