My patience and waiting has finally paid off. HIMSELF will be performing with Scarub from Living Legends and Kruse @ Blue Cafe in Long Beach. Show will be this Saturday. Great spot to see live music up close and personal. Don't miss this one. I've been waiting to see Himself for daze but he rarely plays live and when he does, it's usually far away from me. Danny, aka the mastermind, aka Dad, behind Absorbing Jr.Jacob, the birthday boy drummer.Ethan of Absorbing Jr.the crowd...the lovely Fey who put this event on, killing it on the bass.
me, multi-tasking as normal.

ah furniture love

i'm so happy. i've been on the hunt for a new dresser for a long time. a couple have slipped through my fingers due to other people snatching them up before me. NOT TODAY! got this gem from a rad design school dropout in the OC. guy has a house full of amazing danish modern pieces (most are way above my price limit, but BEAUTIFUL.) after buying the dresser, he offered to deliver it for free.

once it arrived and was put in place, we (he brought a friend who's in the same business) drank some tall boys outside and reminisced on the "good ol days" at the Red Room when you could do lines on the tables and not have to wait behind a velvet rope to get in. ah what a night and what a piece of furniture! love my new friends too.

holy shit

Terrabythe III

Terrabyte is officially described as a "unique celebration of nature, technology, and art".
Translation: A great evening in the Los Angeles Arboretum out on the green listening to live electronic music and viewing visuals on huge screens. All ages are welcome; it's a $10 donation to get in and all proceeds go to the Arboretum preservation fund. There's a bar for those 21 and up and a lot of exhibits to check out. An architecture school builds this massive array of projection surfaces that stand about 30 ft.
tall to fire the visuals on to; it's a pretty amazing sight.
Needless to say, it's a great time and well worth the ticket price. If you missed the past 2 years, now's the time to make it out, this will be the best one yet.

Here's this year's live lineup:
Tycho (+ISO50 Visuals)
Test Shot Starfish
Dusty Brown
Eezir
Deru

You can buy tickets at the show and I will post more info as I get it on buying tickets online.

5.8 quake!

boy did i feel it! just as it started, i was picking up a glass of water. i spilled it and realized the ground was moving...big time. i walked to my kitchen and saw the chandler swaying and my kitchen cabinets opening. then bang, bang. pictures fell off the walls. at this point i decided i MIGHT want to stand in a doorway. the quake was pretty long and i've felt two aftershocks since, but all is well on the long beach front. hopefully that's it's for now.
