BIG loss in the music world. mr. gregory isaacs passed away today of cancer in his home in london. i've been going to his shows since high school and have seen him all over the west coast. he's old school, the cool ruler, a reggae legends and will be missed.

earthquake? dubquake........

well we've had some wacky weather the past couple of days. it was 108* in long beach yesterday (no AC!) which almost made me insane and now it's overcast, humid but much cooler. many are talking about it being earthquake weather. not going to think about that right now.

but i WILL think about dubquake coming to LA in a couple of weekends. the guys that put on dub club always seem to bring in the heavy hitters and this show is no exception. i haven't been for MONTHS and might have to get my high steppin on and head over. 2 day pass only $25!!! such a good deal.


michael rose was the highlight for me. he turned the echoplex into a spaceship disco machine. so good to see a legend still tearing up the dancehall.

7 years ago the Ragga Muffin Festival brought me to long beach for amazing music and introduced me to someone who convinced me to move to southern california from monterey.

fast forward to 2010 and i'm leaps and bounds from where i was then...in a good way. life is crazy how one small decision you make to go somewhere, talk to someone, see something, can change your life path so drastically.

so this saturday and sunday brings the 29th annual reggae festival to long beach- my home. the bf and i will be there sunday, soaking in all the music, friends, jamaican food and goodness life has brought us.
