no love in the thrift nov-dec

sweet little demitasse cups and saucers.  i bought with the intent to sell but now i'm having second thoughts

the whole lot for $3! holler!

this chick knows how to party during the holidays.  i could take note

i liked the graphic and the title of course, but the music seemed to be no bueno. verdict:pass

i mind as well stay home and catch some zzzzz's.  thrift stores are picked over, and then some.  i've been on the hunt because i have items selling like hotcakes on etsy and need more for my store.  i bought the demitasse cups and saucers a couple of weeks ago and every since, dry city. poop.

3 little bears and "vintage" ikea

here's mama bear and papa bear's leather chairs...and they're for sale. papa bear's seat is a bit blown out for my taste, but mama's is looking good. this lame cellphone photo doesn't show the true coolness of these falcon babies. they are suspended from bent wood bases and are SUPER comfy. i'm wait for the sale price to drop further...

also in this "antique" shop was ikea, ikea, ikea. i wanted to leave post-its on some of the vendors spots with a little "shame shame" note. one vendor had the nerve to write on his sign, "vintage ikea." como? i should have taken a photo of THAT!

BORN in the U.S.S.R!

so today i scored this RAD globe from ye ol' thrift. it's from 1965 and not only looks great but has a handful of countries that no longer exist.

lovely lucite

it came with a pristine manual as well...

and this baby lights up!

the topography of the land and ocean appear when you turn on light. so cool!

did i mention it was $10?!

she's thrifty

i've got a thing for yellow. this $4.99 metal trunk said, "heeeeeey girl!" when i walked by. it's permanently locked shut but oh well. a table doesn't need to open.

$1.00... yeah it needs some cleaning but i'm LOVIN the yellow quilted interior and original baggage tags from long beach. radness.

maps

so i'm kinda a map junkie. they're right up there with my chair fetish. today at ye ol' thrift, i found this jumbo coffee table book by national geographic from 1970. something about the color combo on the outside with the silver writing and the XL size caught my eye. it's in beautiful condition and i can't wait to geek out on it and dream of my next trip.

praises! it's friday....

dropped some goods off @ ye ol thrift store today and did a quick spin around the place to see if there was anything worth picking up. pretty dry day overall minus the jesus jackpot of lp's. i had to document a few of the best....

nifty thrifty

these two babies caught my eye. they're signed and numbered by ??? and will be for sale on my etsy site soon.

bought this lp for the ring of fire song. turned out to be a pretty good version...

creepy bunch

it's my friend philly mike's birthday today and to celebrate, he's having a big lebowski bowl-a-thon tonight. thought the two above lp's would be something to keep him on the straight and narrow this last year of his 20's.

oh the sweet sweet tiger jungle scene. it even has a plug in the back and i'm assuming lights up to highlight the mastery of it all. over the bed perhaps to get the blood flowing? i kid.......

i passed up on this heavy duty metal/wood ottoman today and hope i don't regret it. it sits on a swivel base and has a very cool modern look. the cushion needs to be reupholstered which isn't cheap. i think if someone was willing to put in the effort, the return could be huge. $19.99 was too much for me today. sigh.....

off to my white russian....

irwindale

ah yes, the lovely city of irwindale. for those of you that have no idea where this gem is, just drive to the end of the 605 and hang a right. i was there yesterday for a meeting and in classic me fashion, did a quick swing by the local thrift. this time yelp led me to community thrift store in covina. the reviews were eye catching..."large as a grocery store", "super organized", "something for everyone". we'll see about that.

there was a grip of inventory and it was super organized but i didn't find much. i did a loop around the outer perimeter, checking out the books, lps, home goods and textiles...skipping the center clothing island. no time for that jazz.

here's my "finds":

sweet desk in great condition for only $45 but it was HUGE. no room in my casa or car for this guy. but what a deal.

pour some sugar on me

covina apparently has a large hispanic population which was evident in their lp selection. menudo goes to space.

come sit on my lap little boy....

old skool vs. new skool

this one i actually bought. thought it would go well in my banda corner. i was hoping for some rad ranchero music. it's ranchero but not so much rad. two thumbs up for the cover.

digging this 45 holder that is not only numbered but in primo condition. $2 holler. i've got 45's coming out of my ears so this puts some of them in order vs. the shoebox they've been living in.

i didn't buy much at this spot..just the 45 holder and a couple random lp's (debbie deb, stacey q, marachi and tj banda) but i enjoyed the community thrift. i think it could have potential if you were local and went often. as for me old irwindale, it's going to be awhile til i see you again.

odelay!

$10 holler

this shout out goes to my mom....
check this sweet ass bench out she scored at her local goodwill in Fresno. maybe she'll find it somewhere in her heart to give it to me....or at least will it to me.
